In some cases, a rhinoplasty procedure focused on improving the shape of the base of the nose may result in temporary swelling, which can cause the upper lip to droop for up to 2 weeks after surgery. Fortunately, post-operative swelling is temporary, and although the lip may not return to its usual immediately, it will do so soon. Tip rhinoplasty often involves improving the size and shape of the nasal tip. If the tip is rotated upwards as part of the surgery, it may result in the upper lip appearing longer; however, this is a temporary phenomenon related to post-operative swelling. Once the swelling disappears, your smile will return to normal.
